Hotmail Purges Spam

by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613

Dave Murphy, DGL President & ITrain founder The Microsoft Network (MSN) has experience with angry email users who are fed up with receiving spam email, also known as Unsolicited Commercial Email - UCE. In an effort to look like a white hat, Microsoft is introducing Hotmail Inbox Protector, a mail filter that lets users purge spam messages with a mouse click.

The filter attempts to detect incoming spam messages and moves them over to a separate folder where they can easily be deleted. Although the spam protection is the biggest news, the new system also includes a new message service and calendar.

Microsoft marketing machine emphasizes that Hotmail Inbox Protector lets users have complete control over which messages get dumped into the spam heap.
