RideWay On-Demand Dialing

    Configuring The RideWay Server PC For On-Demand Dialing

    If you are using a dial-up connection to the Internet that uses Microsoft Windows' Dial-Up Networking to connect
    your Internet Service Provider, you can take advantage of RideWay's On-Demand Dialer feature so that any machine
    on the RideWay LAN can establish a connection to the Internet at anytime.

    Before enabling on-demand dialing in RideWay, you must first do the following in order to prevent dialer conflicts:

                      1) On the RideWay Server PC that is connected to the Internet,

                      Go into control panel, Click 'Internet', Click 'Connection'.
                      Make sure that "Connect to the Internet as needed is UNCHECKED."

                      In later versions, this could be "Connect to the Internet using a modem"
                      In that case, change to "connect to the Internet using a LAN."

                      2) In Dial-Up Networking,

                      Click 'Connections'
                      Click Settings.
                      Make Sure that 'Redial is UNCHECKED

                      Make Sure 'Prompt to use dial-up networking' is UNCHECKED

    * Start the RideWay software.

    * Click 'Dialer'
    * Click 'Dialer Control'

    * At the bottom, Check 'Enable On-demand dialing. Check 'Include DNS requests.'
    * In the box below, you can specify when you want RideWay to disconnect if
    no one on the LAN is connected to the Internet.

    * Once this is in place, Client PC users need only click on their browser to invoke a connection
    from the Server to the Internet.
