From the MS-DOS prompt (Start->Programs->MS-DOS Prompt), use the 'ping' command to "talk" to the Client PCs.
For instance, Use the following command, 'ping 192.168.1.2' to verify that the Server PC can talk to a PC with a specified IP of '192.168.1.2'.

Your network is properly configured if you get following output:
C:\WINDOWS> ping 192.168.1.2
Pinging 192.168.1.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.1.2: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=32
Reply from 192.168.1.2: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=32
Reply from 192.168.1.2: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=32
Reply from 192.168.1.2: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=32


Your network is properly configured if you get following output:
C:\WINDOWS> ping 192.168.1.2
