General: RideWay is an ideal solution for optimizing your ADSL or
DSL modem
access investment. Configuring your LAN for use with RideWay varies slightly
from standard configuration with a dial-up modem connection. For your
convenience, we have provided comprehensive configuration instructions.
At
anytime, you may contact rideway@dgl.com for further instructions.
REQUIREMENTS
IP Address: Some companies will provide you with a fixed IP address. If
your
company assigns IP addresses, make sure you have the proper IP address.
If
your ADSL or DSL subscriber server access assigns you different one each
time
you connect, then your connection is said to receive a dynamic IP address.
In this
case, do not worry about defining a public IP address.
Two (2) Ethernet or NIC (Network) Cards: The machine you install RideWay,
or,
your Server PC, will require two network cards. The first card, will handle
your
"public" connection while the second card, or your "private" card, will
route each
machine's request to and from the Internet to your client PCs.
DNS Number: Make sure your provider gives you a proper DNS number
DirecPC Address: In most cases, the ADSL or DSL modem itself will have
a
defined IP address. You can get this information from your provider.
EXAMPLE: Please use the following configuration as a guideline for configuring
your LAN for use with your ADSL or DSL modem and RideWay. Any public
addresses are for example (e.g. 204.184.71.19) only and should not be used.
Any
reference to a private IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.1) should be used exactly.

DSL modem):
